How money is used

Most of our costs keep a safe, warm space open

These are our typical monthly running costs at Discovery House.

£7,500a month, around £90,000 a year, to keep Discovery House running
  • £3,500Rent
  • £2,000Bills and utilities
  • £1,500Caretaker and cleaning
  • £500Activity supplies

Zakat is kept separate

Zakat is held apart from our general funds and is never used for running costs.

Restricted grants stay restricted

Money given for a specific project is tracked separately and spent only on that project.

Financial controls

Checks on every payment

These controls are set out in our Financial Policy and apply to every grant, donation and payment.

  • Two authorised signatories, who are not related to each other
  • Every payment over £1,500 needs both signatories
  • Cash is always counted by two people
  • Restricted grant funds are tracked separately and spent only on what they were given for
  • Zakat is kept separate and never used for running costs

Our status

What being a CIC means

Asset lock

As a community interest company, Revive is bound by a statutory asset lock. Our assets and any surplus can only be used for the community we serve, and cannot be distributed to members or directors.

Regulated

We are a community interest company limited by guarantee, regulated by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies.

Not a registered charity

Revive Community Centre CIC is not a registered charity, so we cannot claim Gift Aid on donations. Every donation goes to our community work, protected by our asset lock.
